Tom, In addition to this news, I was preparing to fertilize my back yard two days ago, when I received a call from my son in Colo. While seated on my lawn tractor and talking a FALCON landed for a brief moment on the back lawn...I started to tell my son this, when the bird took off again. ABSOLUTELY AWESOME!!!!

That would be cool if it was. The only thing that makes me pause is that there are waaaaaay more red-tail hawks in the area.

And they look an awful lot like falcons...in fact for many years I was always told that all those red-tail hawks I was seeing were actually falcons.

Thanks for the pix...while we DO have redtailed hawks in our area, the coloration and appearance of this bird definitely looked like a Falcon to me... 8-)

When assessing red-tail hawks and falcons, size matters.

The hawks are considerably larger than falccons. An adult female pergrine is about the size of a crow, with the male a little smaller.

For years I had one that would fly and perch on a ledge above my office. Lived over at the Commodore Perry-(no idea how they could afford the rent-didn't seem to be working). It was pretty cool when I could see her (him?) take off fom the CP and follow the whole flight over to my office.

61- I'm guessing he probably helped you fertilize your lawn? ;-)
